Even more convenient electric car charging with the new Enefit Charge app

The energy company Enefit, which is developing a public electric vehicle charging network in Latvia and the Baltics, is launching a new mobile app called Enefit Charge. The new app will gradually replace the existing solution and provide a faster, simpler and more convenient user experience. The changes will affect more than 6,000 customers in Latvia and a total of more than 40,000 users across the Baltics.

As Rihards Kotlers, Head of Enefit’s Transport Electrification Department, points out, simply increasing the number of charging stations is no longer enough. Electric car owners expect the experience to be as convenient and straightforward as possible throughout the entire charging process.

“We are seeing that electric vehicle owners increasingly expect the charging process to be just as simple and convenient as other digital services they use on a daily basis. From finding a charging station on the app and navigating to it, right through to the end of the charging session. That is why we are constantly seeking new solutions and investing not only in the development of charging points, but also in digital tools that make it even more convenient for customers to use the charging service,” says Kotlers.

The new app offers a range of improvements, including new payment options via Apple Pay and Google Pay, a more convenient way to start charging, and faster refunds of reserved funds in the event of a cancelled session. The app will also feature an Autocharge function, which will allow compatible electric car models to start charging automatically simply by plugging in the charging cable.

The number of electric cars in Latvia continues to grow, and with it, so does the demand for convenient and user-friendly charging solutions. The integration of the energy and transport sectors is becoming one of the key drivers of electromobility.

“Electric cars are gradually becoming part of a broader energy ecosystem. They enable smarter use of electricity by charging when prices are lower, promote the use of renewable energy sources and, in the future, may help maintain a stable electricity grid. To achieve this, modern digital platforms are needed that enable the introduction of new services and create added value for customers,” adds Kotlers.

What do customers need to do to switch to the new app?

To continue using Enefit’s public charging network, you will need to download the Enefit Charge app, create a user account and re-add your preferred payment methods.

Please note that the charging history accumulated in the previous app will not be automatically transferred to the new platform. Existing RFID cards will continue to work, but they will need to be re-linked to the Enefit Charge app.

During the transition period, Enefit Charge and Enefit Volt will operate in parallel, and all customers will be informed in good time of the discontinuation of the Enefit Volt app.
